Powered air systems and supplied air systems are the most comprehensive form of Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) on the market. The systems, when combined with the relevant headtops, offer a range of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as respiratory protection, eye protection, head protection, neck protection and hearing protection, all in one integrated system. As the systems are loose fitting, they fit all face shapes and sizes and offer no breathing resistance, meaning they are more comfortable and able to be worn for longer. They also require no face fitting due to their loose fitting design. These devices are designed to protect against harmful gases, vapours, particles / particulates, fumes, dust, mist and Coronavirus (COVID-19), which in turn allow them to be used in a number of industries and applications, such as Construction, Automotive, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, Welding, Drilling, Agriculture, Medical, Woodworking, Chemical Processing/Handling, Dental, Manufacturing, Spray Painting and DIY.
Types of Air Systems:
- Powered Air Systems – Uses a battery powered motorised fan to draw air through a filter. These devices do not protect against substances with poor warning properties (taste/smell)
- Supplied Air Systems – Uses a compressor to supply air. These devices do protect against substances with poor warning properties (taste/smell)
Our 3M Versaflo and Jupiter powered air systems are made up of three main modular components, a headtop, an air delivery unit and a breathing tube, meaning the user can easily combine the components they require. They are also made up of non-interchangeable components such as filters, prefilters, batteries and chargers. As well as this, pre-configured starter kits are also available to help the user get up and running quickly.
Maintenance:
Before usage an air system respirator should be inspected for any damaged or incorrectly fitted parts and if necessary should be replaced. Some parts that should be inspected include the headtop, air delivery unit, battery charge, filters and airflow tube. After usage it is recommended that the device is cleaned, filters inspected and the respirator stored in a safe uncontaminated place.
